If you have followed The Pumping Mommy long enough, then you know that one product I recommend to pumping moms over and over is a hands-free pumping bra.
This amazing contraption is what kept my sanity all those years pumping for my three kids.
To be successful at working and pumping, multitasking is almost a must. Having to pump several times a day for 20+ minutes without being able to do anything else besides sit and hold the breast pump’s breastshield in place is the last thing we working moms need to be doing!
Even after I quit working in an office and became a stay at home mom, I found huge value in having my hands free while pumping.
I have reviewed the Simple Wishes pumping bra before and LOVE it! It is one of my favorites and on my short list of hands-free bras that I often recommend to pumping moms.
So when I was offered the opportunity to review the Simple Wishes Hands Free Bra Tieback style, I was thrilled.

The Simple Wishes Tieback style was something I was very intrigued about.
One of the frustrations when buying pumping bras is ensuring you get the correct size.
I love the idea of the tieback and being able to achieve a perfect fit each time despite your bra size.
I should make this clear that this bra is NOT a nursing bra and is not meant to be worn all day. It is a bustier style pumping bra which means you put it on to pump and then remove it.
The bustier style pumping bra is one of the more convenient pumping bras since you can simply wear it over your clothes to pumps and fits nicely in your pump bag.
Features of the Simple Wishes Tieback Hands Free Pumping Bra
- Made of 83% Cotton 17% Spandex
- Features a tieback closure to allow a custom fit every time even as your body changes.
- Easy to take on and off without re-tieing back with zipper front panel.
- 4 Overlapping panels of fabric helps maintain a tight hold on pumping breastshields to keep them in place throughout your pumping session.
- Comes with two removable and adjustable shoulder straps to give a more structured fit if needed.
- Has elastic reinforcement along the seam of the entire bra to ensure it stays in place, stretches to fit comfortably and will not slip down.
- Compatible with most major brand pumps! (though I have yet to find one that doesn’t fit)
Things I LOVE About this Bra
1 – Adjustable Tieback
The ability to adjust the back with a simple tie is amazing.
I am one of those breastfeeding moms who grows 1500 sizes after my milk comes in. It is almost comical. But it makes finding nursing bras and pumping bras somewhat difficult.
Your breasts are very engorged in the early stages of breastfeeding and then seem to settle back down after a few weeks. Six months or so in, I always lose a cup size or two… that means buying new bras AGAIN.
Having the ability to adjust this pumping bra fixes that issue with the tieback feature!
2 – Zipper Front
Simple Wishes could have left this bra as a simple tieback and been done but the extra feature of having the front be a zipper panel is genius.
Tieing the back would be a pain each pumping session to take the bra on and off. Luckily, Simple Wishes thought of that and gave us an easier option- a zipper.
So tie the back to fit your body and leave it. As you use the bra, you may need to readjust the tieback time to time as your breasts change but from session to session, there is no need to touch the back. Just zip and unzip the front to use it!
3 – Elastic Seams
One of the reasons this bra stays on so well is the thick elastic that Simple Wishes uses along the outer seam of the entire bra.
This really keeps the bra in place and keeps it from slipping down as you pump.
It makes it feel very structured and comfortable.
4 – Extra Straps
There are plenty of moms who can pump with a strapless pumping bra but for some moms (like me), we need a little extra support.
Simple Wishes includes a pair of shoulder straps that you can use as an option.
These came in handy to keep the bra in place while I was zipping the front to put the bra on and when I was inserting the breastshields for my pump.
You can wear the straps as a halter, racerback, or standard.
Great extra add here!
5 – Soft but Sturdy
This bra is exceptionally soft! But thanks to the added spandex it has some give to it while still maintaining a nice sturdy feel.
One complaint I have about some other brands of pumping bras is that they tend to lose shape over time and are so thin that you eventually need to hold the breastshields in place due to the bra slipping.
You won’t find that issue here.
Anything I Didn’t Love???
So were there things I didn’t love about this Simple Wishes Hands Free Bra with the tieback?
Well, I wouldn’t say there was anything I hated. In fact, I am in love with this pumping bra for all the reasons I listed above BUT in true Pumping Mommy fashion, I will always outline any concerns.
So here are two things to be aware of:
1 – The Length of the Tieback
While I find it amazing you can adjust the tieback and I think for most moms this is a non-issue, but I was a little surprised the ties themselves were not slightly longer.
I had no problem tieing the back and still had room to spare and at a 40DDD that seems pretty good. But moms with a bigger bust might want to take note.
Simple Wishes does have the option to add front panels to the zipper part of the bra to extend it which I love.
You can find those panels sold separately, here.
This bra is truly customizable especially with the option to add a panel (or more if you need).
2 – The Knot in the Back
I am only listing this as a concern since this is one of the common complaints I have seen about this bra based on reviews from moms that I have read.
It is true that using the tieback results in a knot at your back. That much seems obvious.
I personally did not find the knot to be an issue. I don’t tend to lean all the way back when I pump but to test this feature, I did. The knot was noticeable but not uncomfortable.
I think this will also depend on how you position the tieback. I had it quite high up on my back and that helped I’m sure. But I am going to write this concern off as a non-issue since I wasn’t bothered by it in the slightest.
What is the Difference Between the Simple Wishes Tieback, D-Lite, and Signature Bras?
I have done a full review of Simple Wishes hands free pumping bras before. That entailed a deep look at the D-Lite and the Signature bras.
So what is the difference?
The difference is quite simple really:
- Simple Wishes Tieback: Same zipper front but ties in the back. (no velcro panel)
- Simple Wishes Signature: Includes an added 1″ panel for the front and features velcro closure at back for custom fit.
- Simple Wishes D-Lite: Same features as the Signature but does not include the 1″ extra panel.
Cheaper Option?
The Tieback is the cheapest of the Simple Wishes bras listed and is a great deal overall for a pumping bra! The tradeoff is the tieback vs the velcro back which I am fine with!

Compatible Pumps
The panels that support the breastshields on the Simple Wishes Tieback are not restricted at all. I have yet to find a pump that won’t fit and I did try it with many of the pumps that I own, including:
- Spectra S1
- Medela Freestyle
- Medela Pump in Style
- Medela Sonata
- Motif Duo
- Milk Genie
- Ameda Finesse
- Ameda Purely Yours
All of these pumps were a perfect fit! I had zero issues positioning the breastshields for each of them while using the Simple Wishes Tieback Hands Free Pumping Bra.
Bottomline
If you need an affordable, well-made, versatile, and sturdy pumping bra that will continue to fit your body throughout your pumping journey, the Simple Wishes Tieback Hands Free Pumping Bra is definitely one to consider.
With so many options on the market today, going with a trusted and quality brand like Simple Wishes will give you a great product that will last you.
My original Simple Wishes bra is going on baby number three and 5 years and it is still in stellar shape. I trust my Tieback pumping bra will do the same!

Can you please tell me how to wear this with Racerback/standard?
Just cannot seem to figure it out.
So for the racerback, you would take the extra straps and just cross them in the back to make an “X” on your back. Standard would be wearing the straps as you would a typical bra strap, lying parallel to each other. And of course, strapless meaning you wouldn’t wear the straps at all. I hope this helps!
