If you are in the market for a new stroller, you may want to consider a stroller that can grow with your family. With so many options to choose from, it can be easy to get lost in the sea of brands.
When I had my first baby, one thing I will always regret is not reading reviews on the products that I purchased. Especially on the big items like the stroller, pack-in-play, car seat, etc. I ended up with a brand that I didn’t love but I paid too much money for them to justify buying a replacement.
I also didn’t consider accommodating future children. For example, I got a fairly expensive single stroller that was brown and green with monkies on it…I did not even consider the idea that I may not be able to use that for my second child. In fact, I ended up buying a new double stroller once my second baby came. If only I had planned ahead I would have saved a lot of money.
Baby Jogger City Select is an amazing stroller because of the options it brings with it. You can use it as a single, double, or triple (with the glider) stroller. It has 16 different seat configurations. Comes in a variety of colors and even has a large selection of car seat adapters to choose from to make it a travel system.
This stroller can truly grow with your family!
Baby Jogger City Select Stoller Features
Oddly enough, the Baby Jogger City Select is not meant to be a jogging stroller. That confuses some people. It is best suited for casual outings to the store, park, theme parks, etc. It is on the heavier side, so trunk space and logistic of getting into the car are something to consider.
Some Key Features include:
- Easy Folding – Folds onto itself by pulling up the sides. Very easy!
- 16 Different Seat Configurations – Forward Facing, Parent Facing, Sibling Facing are just a few of the positions you can put the seats into!
- Single, Double or Triple Stroller – 2nd seat can be purchase as well as a glider board to make this a double or triple stroller!
- Multiple Seat Reclining Positions – The seats are perfect for naps. They lay back nearly flat. Not something you find in most strollers.
- UV 50+ Sun Canopy – Great shade and has a window with magnetic closure to make checking on your child easy and convenient.
- Wheels – 8″ wheels in the front can be locked for long distance strolling and 12″ forever-air rear tires.
- Adjustable Handlebar – The handlebar adjusts in height which is great for taller adults. The brake is also on the handlebar making it easy to set and release.
- Travel System or Bassinet Options – An adapter can be purchased so you can attach your car seat and make the stroller a travel system. You can also purchase a bassinet attachment for young babies.
- Adjustable Footplates
- 9 Color Options
- Holds up to 45lbs Per Seat
- Dimensions Unfolded – 43.5″ x 25.75″ x 38.5″
- Dimensions Folded – 12.5″ x 25.75″ x 32.75″
- Weight – 28lbs
This really is one of the most versatile strollers on the market and with a 45lbs seat weight max, you can use it for some time (my 5-year-old is just over 40lbs).
One thing that does disappoint with the City Select is the fact it does not come with cup holders for the child or parent. Those trays can be purchased separately so at least there is the option but it would be nice if those came with it. But in the long run, they are not that expensive ($20-$30) so it isn’t a huge deal.
Let’s Talk About the Seat Positions
I think one of my favorite things about the City Select is the 16 different seat position options. That gives you more than enough combinations to work with! An infant and a toddler, two toddlers, twins, 3 kids, etc all have seating options. This is one of the reasons I wish this stroller had been my first purchase when I had my first baby.
You can buy the City Select as a single and buy the extra seat and even a glider later. Or you can purchase as a double. The choice is really up to you. If your plans are to use it as a double in the future, I would recommend going ahead and buying it as a double and keeping the extra seat until you are ready to use it.
Another cool thing that the City Select offers that most strollers don’t is that you can choose different seat colors. A friend of mine has the purple (or amethyst) seat for her daughter and black for her son. So you can customize it to your liking.
Here are the different seat position options. You can also see a complete guide that includes what add-ons you need to achieve each position on Baby Jogger’s site.
What Car Seats are Compatible with the Baby Jogger City Select?
If you are interested in using the City Select as a travel system (where you snap your infant seat directly into the stroller), then you will need to purchase an adapter separately.
There are several adapters, so you need to be sure you are purchasing the correct adapter for your infant seat.
Here is a list of infant seats that are compatible with the City Select. At the end of the post, I will list the adapters that are available for purchase. If you need any help with figuring out what adapter to use, please leave me a comment and I will point you in the right direction!

Watch the Baby Jogger City Select in Action
I’m a visual person so I need to see products in action to understand what I am looking at. This video is a quick view at some of the features this stroller has to offer. It also demos some of the seat positions.
What I love about that video is that you can get a good feel for how easy the stroller is to reposition. You don’t need tools or a lot of effort when moving the seats around.
What Do Moms Think About the City Select?
The City Select has secured an impressive 4.5-stars on Amazon and the Baby Jogger site.
Most moms are in agreement on the things that they like which include the various seat position options, the easy of using the stroller, being able to go from a single to a double or triple stroller and the adjustable handlebar and hand brake.
There is a lot to like about this stroller so what are some of the things mom felt the City Select lacked in?
A common complaint was regarding the weight. This stroller is heavy but so are most double strollers. I don’t see this as a huge negative but is something to keep in mind.
The City Select also does not come with added accessories. You have to purchase them all separately. It would be nice if it had at least a cup holder included.
There were also some comments made about the front wheel wearing out quickly. Several did note that Baby Jogger was quick to send replacement parts so that’s a plus but it might be something to watch for.
Overall, users seem to love the City Select!
Pros and Cons of the Baby Jogger City Select
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Endless seat configuration options
- Ability to use as single, double or triple stroller
- Easy access handbrake
- Many seat color options
- Locking wheel option
- Lots of storage
- Many accessories to choose from
Cons:
- Heavy
- Bulky when folded (though not as bad as some double strollers)
- Have to buy accessories separately
- Can’t fold the stroller with seats rare facing. You need to move them
Bottomline
The City Select is one of the best on the market. It is versatile, easy to use and can grow with your family.
Is it the cheapest stroller on the market today? No. But it is not the most expensive stroller either. But I do think that going with a stroller like the City Select for its ability to adapt will save a lot of money in the long run. I spent way more (probably 2-3 times as much) than the price of this stroller for 3 different ones as my family expanded.
This is a great stroller that you will fall in love with!
Where to Buy the City Select?
The best place I have found to buy the City Select is Amazon. You can also find all the accessories there. For a single seat, you are looking at a price tag of around $460-$500. A double seat can run you $600-$650.
In most cases just getting the stroller as a double will save you money. The second seat alone runs about $150-$170 and then you still need to buy the seat attachments. So you can save a few bucks that way if you intend to buy the second seat anyway.

Hello excellent website for moms. I also have a 2 year old and the information on your site is valuable. I have ran through 4 strollers already. I like the stroller on your site , but one of the cons that I truly despise is the heaviness. I like my strollers light and easy to put in my trunk.
Heather Grace says
The heaviness can be a downside for sure. I will say that I have seen heavier ones. Plus all double strollers are heavy, unfortunately. One nice thing is that you can remove the seats easily and the wheels to cut down on the weight when lifting it in. It’s a give and take!

The city select stroller is one of the best on the market. many of my friends have it. The fact that you can add more seats as the family grows makes the most flexible option.
Unfortunately, I decided to go with a standard Graco stroller because there was so many things to buy with our first baby that we got a bit overwhelmed. I will definitely look at this option for a second baby. Thanks for this great review!

I had the same issue with my first baby – product info overload. It is so hard to choose which items to buy! I made a lot of mistakes that’s for sure! This would be a great buy for your second!

I came across this article because I was online looking for a stroller/buggy for my elderly dachshund..ha! I don’t need anything this nice for my dog – I just need something to push her around in because she can’t walk very well. But I have to say I’m super impressed with this review. I ended up reading the whole thing because it points out things I didn’t realize would be an issue – with safety being the first priority. You’re doing a great thing for mom’s with your website. Especially by including the video – so many people, like me, really need visuals to learn about how things work.

haha, yes, this might be a bit much for the dog. Though she could face 16-different ways! Thank you for stopping by!
