How to Save Money on Maternity and Nursing Clothes
I was afraid to buy maternity clothes during my first pregnancy.
A string of miscarriages left me paranoid about my pregnancy and, somehow, buying maternity clothes felt like jinxing the pregnancy.
I waited as long as I could and really put my yoga pants and baggy t-shirts to the test. But, eventually, I looked like I had a giant white beach ball trying to escape out the bottom of my shirt.
At 7-months pregnant, I walked into Motherhood Maternity.
The sales girl was nice and helped me pick out a handful of dresses, tops, and pants. The total price was not so nice.
I gulped and walked out of the store.
A few short months later my daughter was born and I suddenly found myself needing nursing clothes. I made my way back into the same Motherhood Maternity and found the nursing tops.
Much to my dismay, most of the nursing tops would have been perfect for my pregnancy!

They were long with ruching on the sides to cover my belly, but they could also be pulled down or to the side for nursing.
Why had the sales lady not pointed this out?!
Again I plunked down my credit card, only this time I looked like an annoyed raccoon (that means “annoyed,” but with the added dark circles of new mom sleep deprivation).
I am here to fill you in on the secret to saving some cash…

Tips to Save Money on Maternity and Nursing Clothes
1 – Look for the Stretchy Fabrics
As you shop, look for very stretchy fabrics, long nursing tanks with strap clips, loose strapless dresses, and v-neck tops that can be pulled aside.
2 – Don’t Limit Yourself to Maternity Stores
Shoppers are no longer limited to maternity-specific stores for their pregnancy and breastfeeding needs. Big names stores like Target, Old Navy, H&M, and even Amazon carry some great nursing options.
With this knowledge, I was able to exclusively buy nursing clothes that lasted me my entire second pregnancy.
File that in cash: saved. Cha-ching!

Where to Find/Buy Some of My Favorite Maternity and Nursing Clothes
Below are some of my all-time favorites.
Jessica Simpson Clip Down Cami
This Jessica Simpson Clip Down Cami had enough give to see me all the way through my pregnancy. It’s also great for hiding my postpartum pooch.

Bearsland Maternity Nursing Tank Top
This Amazon Nursing Tank got me up to month 7 of my second pregnancy and is one of my favorite nursing tops.
The fabric is soft and pulls apart easily for quick modest nursing sessions. I often do not feel the need for a nursing cover with this shirt.
This would also be a great tank to discreetly pump underneath. I recommended this shirt to my mommy friends and now four of us wear it on a regular basis.
It isn’t uncommon that we all arrive at the playground in the same top!

Ingrid & Isabel Women’s Maternity Scoop Neck Tank Top
This actually is a maternity tank, however, it has so much stretch that it works perfectly as a nursing top too. This is my go-to top when I want to do the “two-shirt” nursing method (two shirt = pull up the shirt on top, pull down the shirt on bottom).
This tank is also incredibly comfortable.

Pink BlushDraped Maternity/Nursing Maxi Dress
Finally, Pink Blush Maternity has great clothes dedicated to maternity and nursing. You will find pages of dresses and tops that can double as maternity wear!
This dress is an absolute favorite of mine. It is flattering for any body type, the top pulls aside for easy nursing, and the empire waistline makes it ideal for pregnancy. I love this dress so much that I have it in 4 colors!
