If you have a fussy baby, then you might be like me and are searching far and wide for something, anything that can calm them. Having just delivered my third baby only one month ago, I have accepted the fact that my babies tend to suffer from reflux. It’s a fact. Three for three.
My first baby spit up a ton. He was basically naked the first 6 months because putting clothes on him (even with a bib and layers of burp rags) was useless. He soaked everything all day long. Trying to leave the house was a nightmare. I would sometimes go through 5-6 outfits before giving up and abandoning the trip out altogether.
But the spit up on it’s own would have been fine. A major laundry issue, yes, but I could deal with it if that was all that his reflux entailed. He also had what I liked to call his “witching hour.” Every night from about 6 pm to 10 pm he would cry. Nothing would console him.
As a first time mom, it was a horrible, helpless feeling. I had no idea what to do with him. I tried many, many different things. Gripe water. Gas drops. Swaddling. Not swaddling. Nursing him. Bath. Shushing him. Bouncing him. You name it, I tried it.
Eventually, he grew out of it. But it was a long 5-6 months filled with many tears.

My second baby had silent reflux. He never spit up. Ever. I actually thought we had avoided reflux at first because of that. Boy, was I wrong. Silent reflux was worse. Much worse. You could hear him regurgitating and then he would choke. Then the screaming would start. He slept maybe 45 minutes at a time because it was so painful.
Eventually, that experience lead us to medicine. He was on meds for nearly a year. Those had their own side effects like constipation. He was slow to gain weight and wasn’t a great eater. It was so hard.
Now on my third baby, I feel more prepared. My daughter has reflux and it seems to be a mix between her brothers. She spits up but often has silent reflux episodes too. I was hesitant to go the route of medicine again. With my son, he was so severe, the benefits outweighed the side effects.
So the hunt began for a product that could help my sweet little girl without turning to prescription medications.
So, Does Colic Calm Work?
I came across Colic Calm on a mommy group that I belong to on Facebook. Moms were recommending it left and right. Swearing that it calmed their fussy babies like some miracle.
I had already tried several products and when your baby is seemly in pain, you will try just about anything. So I ran out to the nearest drug store to grab a bottle.

When I opened the bottle and started to measure the dosage, the first thing I noticed was the color. This stuff is black as night! And seems to have a gritty texture. I was taken back slightly by the appearance, to be honest. I gave the dose to my baby after feeding her as directed and waited to see if it would calm her. One tip is to have a baby wipe handy to wipe any that baby spits out cause it’s messy.
She did seem to settle and fell asleep within 20 minutes or so of that first dose. Maybe a coincidence.
She seems to be worse at nighttime so I gave her a dose after each feeding (bottle says no more than 4 doses in 24 hours) which is about 3-4 during the night.
After using the product for over a month, I do think it helps settle her stomach and reduce the effects of her reflux. She seems to be able to get the gas out easier which can cause crying episodes in babies.
Do I think it is a miracle product? I’m not sure I would go that far. Does it work? Yes.
Overall, I felt it helped my baby be more comfortable but it is not a cure by any means. We still have some rough nights despite taking the Colic Calm but the occurrences of those are definitely less. Colic Calm does work but I caution anyone thinking this will eliminate their baby’s issues completely. It will help ease the symptoms and is worth the money but it will not cure your baby.
I did notice my baby spit up less and seems more comfortable immediately after taking it. Even if that relief is temporary, it was worth every penny I spent on this stuff.
I wish I had known about it with my first two! It might have saved me money in the long run since I spent countless dollars on products that did not work at all.
So if you are considering buying Colic Calm for your fussy, gassy, or reflux baby, I recommend you give it a try!

I will say that I like that this product is very natural. There is nothing in it that is harmful and you can use it as symptoms present themselves.
I found this product to be a much better route than medication for my daughter’s reflux. Colic Calm has no known side effects which I agree with. I did not notice anything with my daughter.
Some Things to Note About Colic Calm
While I have ended up loving this product and use it daily for my daughter, there are a few things that I want to let moms know that I wish I had known:
- It’s a black liquid! And messy so be prepared and don’t get it on anything you don’t want stained.
- If your baby spits up, it will spit up some black… I obviously wasn’t alarmed the first time she spit up some of the Colic Calm since I knew where the black in her spit up came from but she got it on my white sweatshirt… so yeah, that’s ruined… Be warned.
- There will be black flakes in your baby’s poop. It does mention this on the bottle and I’m glad it was because this was alarming at first. If you give your baby a regular dose daily, you can expect there to be some black in each stool they have. I went two days without giving it her before and her poop went back to normal so FYI.
- It’s not cheap. For a two ounce bottle, Colic Calm is not cheap. It does, however, go a long way. I found a two-ounce bottle lasted us over a month, with us giving anywhere from 1-4 doses a day. I suppose if you gave 4 doses a day, then it might not last quite as long but the point is that it will last some time. So don’t be scared of the price.
- It’s cheaper on Amazon. Amazon is the cheapest I have found it because you can subscribe and get a discount. But even the base price is cheaper than any store I have seen it in. Plus you can get free shipping with a Prime account.
See it in Action!
There are countless videos on Youtube that show crying babies being fed Colic Calm. The baby seems to instantly become calm and stop crying. I agree that this does happen. I would liken it to having horrible heartburn and popping a Tums. You do get some relief but you are not cured.
My baby always seemed calm just like the one in the video below after taking a dose. It is worth any amount of time that your baby is not fussing. Trust me.
So, Yea or Nay?
I definitely say try Colic Calm if you have a fussy baby and are dealing with gas or reflux issues. Again, this won’t cure your baby but it will help ease some of the symptoms. So grab a dark colored shirt and be prepared for the ugly mess it makes but also enjoy the sight and sound (or lack thereof) of a content baby.
