If you are looking to set up a new Baby Registry, Amazon is a great place to start. Let’s face it, in today’s world online shopping is a part of life. There is a reason Amazon is the world’s biggest retailer (even bigger than Walmart).
When it comes to options for your baby registry, Amazon has plenty and couple that with competitive pricing and you are winning!
There are a lot of great features offered by Amazon Registries. You can update easily from a mobile device, items can be shipped directly to you, items can be marked as purchased by friends and family if they buy it in a store, ability to add ANY product from other websites, etc! It is really easy to use and eliminates the need for multiple registries.

Amazon Baby Shower Registry Completion Discount
One feature of the Amazon Baby Registry that gets confusing is the completion discount. So how does it work and what is the discount?
When you sign up for a Baby Registry, you will be asked for a due date for your baby. This date is actually quite important. You will only get your completion discount offer 60 days prior to your due date. The only exception to that is there is a 14-day waiting period after you sign up before your discount is available.
So if you sign up for a registry 50 days before your due date, you will have to wait 14 days before you can have access to the discount.
This waiting period probably will not be an issue since most registries are used for baby shower gift lists. But I will confess I made registries with my second and third babies as well so that I had access to a discount to purchase some needed items despite not having a baby shower. So even if you aren’t having a baby shower, consider starting a registry!

How Much is Amazon’s Completion Discount?
The completion discount offer is for 10% or 15% for Prime Members. Keep in mind that whoever is listed as the primary registrant is who the discount is applied to. So even if the co-registrant is a Prime Member, you will not receive the 15% if the primary registrant is not. So keep that in mind when filling out your registry information if one of you is a Prime Member and the other is not.
The discount can only be used for ONE transaction. So you will want to make your list and add all your needed items at the same time since there is no going back! This is a mistake I have seen people make.
You can use the discount on eligible items up to $5,000 ($750 discount for Prime) for up to 180 days after your due date. Once you hit the maximum allowed, you will not be able to add items using the discount to your cart.
If you are not a Prime Member and are considering becoming one, I highly recommend it. Not only will you get a higher discount on the completion of your registry but there are a ton more benefits. One that I love is Amazon Family. You will receive coupons for baby/family things like diapers. Worth the money for sure!

What Items are Eligible for Amazon Completion Discount?
Not all items available on Amazon qualify for the completion discount.
Typically the item needs to be offered by Amazon and not a third-party. I also have noticed diapers do not qualify. When adding items to your registry, it is a good idea to keep that in mind.
When your completion discount is available for you to use, you will see a message at the top of your registry saying you are eligible. You will need to click on that message and follow the link to see your eligible item list.
You can see in the below snapshot the Completion Discount drop down. Then the window that will display:
Once you click on the link to redeem your discount, you will see the following window with a list of eligible items:
You must add eligible items from this view to your cart to get the discount.
One nice thing is that Amazon allows you to continue to add items to your registry and those items will still be available for the completion discount as long as you have not redeemed it. Once you use the discount, you are not eligible to use it again.

BE AWARE OF REFUND POLICY!!!!
No, I would Not Recomend Amazon Baby Registry, Because I realized today 3-3-2017 what a terrible refund – credit policy they have!
2 Weeks! Two weeks and that’s with Amazon already having the items returned to them… physically in their hands!
With the items logged in to their computer system showing as returned and delivered…
Who has two weeks to get credit for a return??? No one I know for sure! Specially when you are counting with that money to get something you really need for the baby ASAP.
I am deleting my Baby Registry with Amazon and keeping the one I have with Target and Babies R Us.
And I will make sure to pass the word to all of my friends on Amazons Baby Registry Returns & Refunds, ridiculous policy.
I have never encounter anything like this with any other online vendor.

Hi Angela,
I am sorry you had a bad experience. When I first read your comment, I thought you were referring to the timeframe to return an item and was afraid something major had changed… To be clear for anyone else freaking out, the 2-week timeframe applies to the time it takes to receive a refund after you ship an item back.
Amazon’s full refund policy is here.
I completely agree that if you are in a hurry and need to purchase something else before the two week turn time for a refund, then Amazon will present a problem. I personally have not run into this issue when I had to return a few items. In my case, however, the two weeks was not an inconvenience as I wasn’t in a hurry but I can empathize with you! I do agree that it would be nice to see Amazon streamline this process. Two weeks is certainly a long time to wait compared to a physical store where you walk in with the item and out with the return credit. Thank you for sharing your experience! It is something to consider when signing up, especially if you are pressed for time. Congratulations on your baby and I hope you get it all worked out!
